Is Vaulty Safe?
Yes—Vaulty is designed to keep your private media secure and out of sight, while giving you full control over your files.
Vaulty uses multiple layers of protection to ensure your photos and videos are hidden from your gallery, other apps, and even someone using your phone without permission. It’s built for privacy, without compromising speed or usability.
🔐 How Vaulty Protects Your Files
When you hide a file in Vaulty:
- A secure copy is made and saved to a private folder (
Documents/Vaulty/data
) in a special.vdata
format. - The file is renamed and modified so that it cannot be opened without Vaulty.
- The original is deleted from the public gallery and media folders on your device.
- Media files are stored where other apps cannot detect or display them.
This ensures your hidden content stays out of view—even if someone connects your phone to a computer or installs a file browser app.
🧱 Local-Only Security
Your hidden files are stored locally on your device. The Vaulty app can access them to display and manage your vaults, but nothing is ever sent to Vaulty’s servers. This means:
- Vaulty’s creators can’t see or access your content
- Your privacy is protected even if you’re offline
- You’re the only person with access to your files
🔑 Add Extra Protection with Multiple Vaults
Vaulty supports multiple vaults, each with its own password. This lets you:
- Separate different types of content
- Share your device without sharing everything
- Create decoy vaults for added security
☁️ Secure Backup Is Optional and Private
If you choose to enable Vaulty’s free online backup, your files are synced to your own Google Drive account—not to Vaulty’s servers.
- Backups are private and accessible only to you
- Files are stored in a hidden folder on Drive in
.vdata
format - The Vaulty app handles syncing between devices if you’re signed in to the same Drive account
🔐 Vaulty does not have access to your Drive or your content. You are always in control.
🧠 Your Privacy, Your Responsibility
Because Vaulty never stores your files on its servers, you are responsible for keeping them backed up or transferred when switching devices.
